Help, My Braces Broke!

Brooklyn dentists at Park Slope Dental Arts explain what to do if your braces break.Having your braces wire snap or an archwire breakage can be an alarming situation to experience, but have no fear, Park Slope Dental Arts team in Brooklyn is here with some helpful advice.

If you can get to our Park Slope Dental Arts right away, we can take a look at the break and repair it. However, if you are not able to make it in right away, there are some things you can do to help until you come in for an appointment.

One option is to cut the protruding wire with wire cutters and remove the extruding piece. You will want to cover the exposed end of the wire with orthodontic wax to protect your gums and lips. If the break is near the back molars, you can use a piece of dental floss to tie the archwire together until you can come in for an appointment.

We know that breaks can be scary but remember that we are here to help.  Give Park Slope Dental Arts a call to make an appointment. We will do our best to get you in as soon as possible.
